i hate the sound of guitars

1. Gary Moore
   Definitely in the guilty pleasure category, but one of the 80’s non-speed metal/hard-rock acts I can still enjoy without too much irony. Why? 1) Moore’s fluid and melodic solos 2) at least sometimes, he actually writes songs.

   Yet another band that’s been around for a good while that I somehow never stumbled onto. This one I only learned about, for chrissakes, because they had a track on an album I played on. I hate to compare bands to The Mekons, because that’s setting the bar so high, but they do, both politically, and in the ramshackle breadth of their musical attack.
